Commissions & Committees 

Members of the Newark community can participate in local government by serving on one of the City’s commissions or committees. These volunteer groups advise the City Council by reviewing issues and providing recommendations on matters that affect the community and the quality of life in Newark.

Want to Serve on a Commission or Committee?

Serving on a commission or committee is a great way to share your ideas, contribute your perspective, and help shape the future of Newark. Community members interested in getting involved are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Newark (some commissions or committees may have additional requirements). Please note that City of Newark employees are not eligible to serve as commissioners.

 How To Apply

Please complete an application form and email it to city.clerk@newarkca.gov. All  applications submitted to the City are considered public records.

Below is a list of current vacancies. If there are no openings, you may email the City Clerk with your contact information to express your interest in serving. Your information will be kept on file for one year, and you will be notified if a vacancy becomes available.
