Measure GG - at the November 8, 2016 election, voters approved a one-half percent transactions and use (sales) tax in the City of Newark beginning on April 1, 2017. It is the policy of the City Council that the funds be directed towards the replacement of the Civic Center buildings.

Measure LL - at the November 5, 2024 election, voters approved increasing the Transient Occupancy Tax rate from 10% to 14%

The Oversight Committee reviews semi -annual revenue and expenditure reports and information related to the Transactions and Use Tax and the Transient Occupancy Tax. The Committee provides the City Council with an annual report.
