The Newark Police Department Canine Division currently has two canine/handler teams. Both NPD canines are of the Malinois breed and work primarily in patrol.

OFFICER PACHECO & K9 ECHO 

K9 Echo officially joined the Newark Police Department in February  2020. After undergoing extensive training, Officer Pacheco and K9 Echo began serving the Newark community in March 2020.  

K9 Echo is a Belgian Malinois born on October 12, 2018. He is  currently trained in narcotics and article detection.
