The City of Newark and Newark Days Celebration Inc. are celebrating their 70th annual “Newark Days” celebration from Thursday, Sept. 18th until Sunday, September 21st. The celebration commemorates the City’s birthday.
Newark Days offers a multitude of activities from a carnival to food and game booths, arts & crafts vendors, children’s activities, an information fair, a car show, and top entertainment talent.
Do you enjoy running? Well, then, why not register to participate in the “Newark Mile Run” which takes place Saturday, September 20th. You may pre-register: Click Here or register on the day of the race. Following the race at 10:00 am, is the Newark Days Parade. The parade starts at the intersection of Newark Blvd. and Civic Terrace Avenue heading Northbound on Newark Blvd. to Cedar Blvd. The parade ends at the Newark Community Center where all the festivities take place.

Newark Days Parade
Newark’s 70th birthday parade, “Celebrating the 70s” is sure to be a crowd pleaser. The parade begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 20th at Civic Terrace Ave and Newark Blvd., heading north on Newark Blvd.
The parade then heads towards the Newark Community Center on Cedar Boulevard. Many streets and intersections may be closed. Visit the Newark Days website at www.newarkdays.org for detailed parade and “Newark Mile” route information.
To facilitate the parade and race, the following road closures will be in effect from approximately 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday September 20th:
Newark Blvd. in both directions from Civic Terrace Avenue to Cedar Blvd.
- Thornton Ave. in both directions from Cherry St. to Mayhews Landing Road.
- Cedar Blvd. in both directions from Newark Blvd. to Edgewater Dr.
- Mayhews Landing Rd. in both directions from Fair Ave. to Newark Blvd.
- Lake Blvd. from Parkshore Dr. to Cedar Blvd.
- Chapman Dr. from Blackburn Dr. to Cedar Blvd.
Please be advised that all intersections along the parade route will be closed to through traffic. Residents, visitors, and parade-goers are encouraged to arrive early and anticipate traffic delays in the surrounding areas.
“No Parking” signs will be posted along the parade route at least 72 hours in advance. Vehicles parked in these areas before the event will be towed at the owner’s expense. Additionally, signs will be placed in the center medians along the route to remind attendees to stay off the medians. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the parade from the sidewalks to keep roadways and medians clear.
